About Cardiff Metropolitan University

Cardiff Metropolitan University was originally founded in 1865 as the Cardiff School of Art & Design, and in 2011 became an independent University of Wales.

Cardiff Metropolitan University has about 13,000 students coming from over 130 countries.

It has been ranked a number of times as the top new university in Wales in recent years. Cardiff Met was ranked the best post-1992 university in the UK in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. 80% of the research submitted by the University was rated as 'world leading' or 'internationally excellent.'

The University also enjoys close ties with industry and international universities such as the Samsung Art & Design Institute and the International College of Business and Technology in Sri Lanka and the London School of Commerce.

Cyncoed Campus is a vibrant campus offering students excellent sports facilities.

Cardiff Metropolitan University Entry Requirements

Cardiff Metropolitan University English language Requirements:

International students must submit one of the following English language proficiency test scores for admission:

UG and PG:

• IELTS – 6.0 or equivalent, with no modules less than 5.5
• PTE – 52 overall and a minimum of 51 in all components.

​MPhil / PhD:

• IELTS – 6.5 overall with 6.5 in both Reading and Writing and a minimum of 6.0 in Listening and Speaking.
• PTE – 61 overall and a minimum of 61 in all components.

​The Requirements may Defer for some Programs.
