Western Sydney University, formerly known as the University of Western Sydney, is a renowned public institution of higher learning in Greater Western Sydney, Australia. A network of the federated University was formed as a result of the amalgamation of two predecessor schools. The institution started operating on January 1st, 1989, in accordance with the provisions of the State Legislature. The university also included Macarthur Institute of Higher Education in that year. In 2015, it adopted its present name. The Council of Australian Postgraduate Associations, the Australian Medical Council, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities are all affiliated with this university. Additionally, it has affiliations to respected groups like AACSB International, Innovative Research Universities, and Universities Australia.

Although Western Sydney University doesn't have a main campus, it does have campuses in Penrith, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Parramatta, Hawkesbury, and Bankstown where it provides study programmes.
