Ohio State University, founded in 1870, is a public research university affiliated with APLU, BTAA, ORAU, and AAU. Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College was the university's previous name. It was created with the intention of educating students in the fields of agricultural and mechanical engineering. It was designated as a university in 1878. It is known to be Columbus' ninth-largest university. In 1873, the institution opened its doors to 24 students for the first time.

It has campuses in Newark, Mansfield, Lima, Wooster, Marion, and Columbus, and is one of the largest institutions in the United States. Ohio State University International Student Admissions
