California State University is a public university in California. Long Beach, sometimes known as 'The Beach,' was founded in 1949 as Los Angeles-Orange County State College. With its 322-acre campus, The University is the third-largest of the 23 California State University (CSU) institutes. It boasts one of the greatest student enrollments in the state of California. Arts, business, engineering, liberal arts, education, professional and international education, natural sciences and mathematics, health and human services, and education are among the courses offered by the eight colleges. The Beach's Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is focused to fostering intellectual and research activities. Its main focus is on faculty-student collaboration in research.

On any given week, over 37,000 students, almost 2,000 faculty, and 1,600 professional staff members study and work on campus. The institution offers more than 95 programmes across its eight colleges. Design, Music, Theatre Arts, and Dance are among the programmes offered at the College of Arts. Finance, Accountancy, Marketing, and International Business are among the seven programmes offered by the College of Business. Chemical, Biomedical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering programmes, among others, are available at the College of Engineering. Language programmes, psychology, ocean studies, and a variety of other courses are available at the university.
