About Bournemouth University

Established in 1992Bournemouth University (also known as BU) is a highly-ranked public university in South West England's Dorset region, United Kingdom. The origin of BU's predecessor Bournemouth Municipal College dates back to the early 1900s, which became Bournemouth College of Technology in the 1970s. BU transformed into a polytechnic institute in 1990. The institution obtained the university status and degree-granting powers under its current name in the year 1992. It has affiliation from the Association of Commonwealth Universities as well as membership of the Florence Network.
